NETWORKING - THE ART OF COMMUNICATION

Updated: Jun 12, 2019

Etiquette is a tool for you to feel CONFIDENT in any social or professional situation. Etiquette is telling you HOW. And if you know how, you will spend your energy building relationships rather than trying to stop being anxious.

Our greetings to everyone!

Let’s talk a little about a very useful thing in our contemporary life – NETWORKING or building a net of contacts, building relationships. The truth is that it is not an easy skill as it may first seem to be.

We keep saying that Etiquette is a tool for you to feel CONFIDENT in any social or professional situation. Etiquette is telling you HOW. And if you know how, you will spend your energy building relationships rather than trying to stop being anxious.

If we want to build strong, meaningful and healthy relationships it’s imperative that we treat other people the way we would like to be treated. It is imperative that we develop a strategy for treating people as EQUALS.

Many people live selfish lives. They put others down just in order to feel better themselves. Looking down on people is not the right way of winning trust, influencing them or winning friends. Putting ourselves up on the pedestal of self rightness will never lead you to your goal. You do not like to be judged negatively yourself, do you?

Our judgment is putting people down. However sometimes we judge people and put them up. We ourselves start feeling very low. The reason why we feel so low is that by some reason we put ourselves beneath other people. “Oh, he is so much better than me, he is a famous writer, the guru of computer sciences, etc.” You judge people up on a pedestal.

It is a common notion that the quality of our lives is impacted and determined by the quality of the relationships that we keep. The quality of our relationships that we keep will always be determined by whether we are putting people up, putting people down or treating people as EQUALS.

So here is a piece of advice: in any relationship it is important to bring the person up to your level and bring yourself down off the pedestal he has put you on just to converse with the person as equal.

We at the LSCE consider NETWORKING to be the ART – not just a skill. We have included this topic in a few main courses and devote a lot of time for sharing our best knowledge on this subject with you. Join us at our trainings and workshops.

Look forward to seeing you soon!
